The EU Project "PROMYLIFE" (How to Better Protect my Life in Major Emergencies) has been assigned to the Development Enterprise of Achaia Prefecture (NEA) by the European Commission - DG Environment - Civil Protection Unit for the period 2008-2009. Four EU regions and three EU member states (Greece, Italy, Bulgaria) are participating to this citizen oriented co-operative European Project. The project aims:
To identify actual citizens’ needs.
To improve the preparedness of the public and in particular of the vulnerable groups (elderly, children, disabled and disadvantaged people, etc.) in major and extreme events.
To enhance the adaptation of the public to the climate change effects to weather conditions/natural hazards through proper training and by promoting civil participation and self protection.
To enhance the emergency planning procedure and emergency/public utility services co-ordination in major emergencies.
To prevent natural disasters’ impacts through an improved knowledge in vulnerabilities issues and safety behavior competences.
